ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

PennyDrops is a student-run non-profit organisation that champions financial literacy among Canadian youth.

Our mission is to equip youth with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions. PennyDrops is paving the way to financial freedom for student coast-to-coast.

PennyDrops started as little more than one idea and two passionate students. Entering university, McGill students Meagan and Brenden reflected on their own secondary education experiences and realized that many high school graduates — like themselves — were inadequately prepared to navigate their personal finances. To address this challenge, they founded PennyDrops in 2015. The following semester, Jeunesse Enrichie was launched, marking the beginning of the French-language program. Since then, PennyDrops has grown from 88 high school students served to over 9,000.

Our Values

Integrity

Ensuring veracity and impartiality of our program, and managing stakeholder relationships.

Professionalism

Centering our impact around youth and celebrating the people that make our impact possible.

Community

Ensuring our impact is inclusive of all youth, including marginalised communities

The Problem

Statistics show that Canadian students are inadequately prepared to face the financial burdens of the real world. This is especially problematic when students are graduating with debt hanging over their heads. In addition, financial products have never been as accessible as they are today. As a result, it is crucial that every Canadian student has a strong basis of financial knowledge.
